Why make Publisher Weekly?

Publishing is at a critical point in its history. Advertising money has dried up, while clickbait is no longer a viable strategy. Audiences are overwhelmed and inundated by distractions. Public trust in media is at an all time low, and the business of journalism is all but dying.

Publisher weekly is an examination of what the future of publishing might hold, and who the key players are in deciding what happens next to all of us.

Who's behind this site?

Publisher Weekly is created and run by the team at Ghost.org - a modern, independent platform for professional publishers. We're structured as a non-profit organisation, and everything we build is released as free and open source.

We have a vested interest in the future of the publishing industry, and we believe in alternative business models for media which deeply align the interests of publications and their readers with one another.
